EGLOO Cam Setup & Connection Issues: Troubleshooting Guide for S4+ and S8

Hello from EGLOO!

Thanks to your incredible support, EGLOO Cam has been selling out repeatedly, and we couldn’t be more grateful!

However, as more customers begin using our cameras, we’ve noticed an increasing number of inquiries about initial product setup and installation.

Since Wi-Fi connection and security settings are crucial for home cameras, some customers may experience difficulties during the setup process.

If you're struggling to connect your  S4+, or S8 EGLOO Cam, this guide will walk you through step-by-step troubleshooting.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting for EGLOO Cam Connection Issues

Step 1: Check Your Wi-Fi Type

Different models require different Wi-Fi settings:

  • S4+, S8 → Supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi

If you're unsure about your Wi-Fi type, check your router settings or look at your network name (SSID).

  • Many routers label their networks as “5G” at the end of the name.
  • If you’re unsure, contact your internet service provider (ISP) or router manufacturer for assistance.

Step 2: Verify Your Wi-Fi Password

Many connection failures happen due to incorrect Wi-Fi passwords.

Ensure your Wi-Fi password is entered correctly.
✅ Double-check for typos (uppercase/lowercase letters matter!).
✅ If you're unsure of your password, check your router’s settings or contact your ISP.

Step 3: Check Your Wi-Fi Name (SSID)

Some Wi-Fi names can cause connection issues, especially if they contain:
Korean characters
Special symbols (@, !, #, $, %, &)
Emojis

✅ If your Wi-Fi name contains special characters, rename it using only English letters before attempting to connect again.

Step 4: Switch Wi-Fi Networks During Setup

Even if you’re using the correct Wi-Fi, the setup process may require switching networks temporarily.

1️⃣ Power on the camera and wait for the status light to change from red (flashing) to white (solid).
2️⃣ Connect your smartphone to the same Wi-Fi you’ll use for EGLOO Cam.
3️⃣ During the setup, switch to the EGLOO_CAM_XXXX network that appears in your Wi-Fi list.
4️⃣ Alternatively, try QR code registration:

  • Hold your smartphone’s QR code in front of the camera lens and slowly move it back and forth to scan.

Step 5: Wi-Fi Security Check

Even if your Wi-Fi is working properly, some networks do not support IP cameras due to security restrictions.

🚫 EGLOO Cam cannot connect to:

  • Wi-Fi without a password
  • Public or unsecured networks (e.g., coffee shops, airports, hotels)
  • Networks requiring additional login approvals (e.g., pop-up confirmation screens)

✅ Use a private, password-protected home Wi-Fi for the best performance.

Step 6: Check Wi-Fi Signal Strength

Poor Wi-Fi signal strength can cause connection failures or frequent disconnections.

📍 Key factors that weaken Wi-Fi signals:

  • The camera is too far from the router.
  • Thick walls or obstacles are blocking the signal.

✅ Place the camera closer to the router for a stronger connection.

Step 7: Reset & Reattempt Registration

If all else fails, reset your camera and try again from the beginning:

1️⃣ Turn off mobile data (only use Wi-Fi during setup).
2️⃣ Locate the reset button on the camera.
3️⃣ Use a thin object (e.g., paperclip) to press the reset button for 3 seconds (until you hear a click).
4️⃣ Restart the Wi-Fi registration process from scratch.

If your registration gets stuck at “Connecting to wireless router”, try this:
Forget the Wi-Fi network on your phone and reconnect.
Reset the camera and start over.
